Guilty

We all need a rest day or two, right? Yesterday I felt very spent – worn out – my entire body was tired. I could barely get through my hour of Wii Step and didn't walk last night. Then this morning, for the first time in six weeks, I didn’t get up and work out. I woke up before my alarm, turned it off, rolled over and then woke up again at 4:45. I knew I could get in at least 30 minutes of the step but I rolled over and didn’t get out of bed until 5:25. Now I feel guilty. Not only did I not walk last night, I totally flaked out on this morning’s workout. Tonight, Sweetie Pie and I are going to the opening night of the Peach Festival in Clanton. I’m sure I’ll do a lot of walking there, but I won’t get my good work out walk as usual. Call me crazy – CRAZY – but I feel all those pounds piling back on.

So to assuage my guilt, there will be no ice cream this weekend. I might have to get some homeade peach ice cream tonight at the festival. I’ll get two workouts in both Saturday and Sunday and be much more mindful of my weekend eating. I’ve still got myself strapped onto the wagon; it just slowed down a little yesterday.

Sometimes, in the quiet of the morning, I think of some strange things. This morning, I was wondering this: If your body is so smart that if it thinks it is starving when you cut calories too much, why can’t it do something when you are eating too many calories? If your body stalls on the weight loss, why doesn’t it stall or reject all those extra calories to keep you from harming it by gaining too fast or too much? Why is your body only smart in one direction? I really think it should diversify!

Writing what I’ve been eating on my blog has really helped me see the areas I need to work on. I know it is boring but I’m going to keep putting it out there because it helps me be much more aware when I’m eating. I’ve also been better about writing down everything I’m eating than I’ve ever been before. Now I just have to do better at planning! Feel free to skip over the food diaries!
