I'm Back!

Well, it seems I took a little break from blogging, dieting and exercising. I turned the 4th of July into a week long holiday but it is back to business today.

What happened last week? Well, several things I think. One is that because my birthday is in July, I seem to view July as a holiday month. I always tend to eat more, go out with my friends more and stay out later when I do go out. Now, to clarify when I say go out, I mean bunko with 11 other girls and book club with 7 other girls. I’m not out dancing and drinking all night like I use too. I can’t stay up past 10:00 pm these days anyway!

The other thing that I think happened was diet fatigue. This weight is coming off slowly this time around and I sometimes feel I’ve done a lot of work for little reward. I didn’t go off the deep end and have biscuits every morning but I did allow myself more treats than usual. I didn’t walk but I did keep doing the Wii Step each morning for an hour. I have not gotten on the scale - I am going to put it off until next Monday.

Now I am back on the wagon and feeling like I can do finish this (and keep it under control so I never have to lose weight again). This morning I was supposed to get up and do Wii Step but a huge thunderstorm came through and woke up Sweetie Pie and I had to lay with him so he would go back to sleep. He moved my hand to cover his ear so he couldn’t hear the thunder. Even though this is a minor setback, I’m back to eating my low fat, high fiber and 1500 calorie or less diet. The rain should end this afternoon so I’m going to walk for an hour this afternoon. Onward and downward!

I know lots of people make New Year’s resolutions but I like to make what I call birthday goals. Here are this year’s:

1. Lose 40 pounds by January 1. I’ve got six months to do it. I plan on exercising twice a day 4 to 5 times a week and to get one hour of exercise the sixth day with one day of rest. I also plan on following my diet plan closer. I have to eat better with fewer slips.

2. Run 3 miles by January 1. I have to follow the C25K plan consistently.

3. Cook more meals for my family. I am going to plan meals for three to four nights a week. I have to expose Sweetie Pie and The Hubby to more foods. I also enjoy cooking and have really slacked off lately.

4. Here is some miscellaneous stuff: Finish Sweetie Pie’s first year scrapbook and start on years two and three. Keep house cleaner, clean out junk drawers and closets. Start process of becoming home owners.

  1. Birthday goals. I like that! I try not to do resolutions but inevitably succumb to peer pressure and then they always fail. But I think birthday goals would work much better!

Found you b/c you were nice enough to friend me on Twitter! Thank you!
